A series of black and white photographs reflecting the stylised tropes of fashion photography to explore narratives of race, culture, history and the Victorian Empire.
Fernandes is a highly regarded photographer, fashion stylist, art director, curator and academic interested in cultural identity, religion, feminine empowerment and gender.
He has exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum, Royal Academy of Arts, Whitechapel Art Gallery, The Photographers’ Gallery, Institute of Contemporary Arts, National Maritime Museum, Museum of London and Harris Museum, Preston.
